Katherine Weiss, organiser of the hugely valuable Samuel Beckett Early Career Scholars Initiative has asked us to remind all of the two seminars scheduled for the coming semester. The initiative, which was established to share information and create a network of support to all Beckett scholars in the early stages of their research and career, has proved enormously beneficial to those who have attended its workshps.
The first seminar is titled: Academic Job Market: ‘All this business of a labor to accomplish …’ and will take place on September 24, 2024 @ 6:30 PM (London Time Zone). In this session, Laura Salisbury (Exeter U), Pascale Sardin (Bordeaux-Montaigne U) and Katherine Weiss (Cal State U, Los Angeles) will share their insights and tips on landing an academic position. The perspectives will cover the UK, Europe and American academic job markets.
Attendance is open and free of charge but it is essential to sign up at this link: https://forms.office.com/r/HQdGQvZnuj?origin=lprLink. A Zoom link will be sent to participants the day before the workshop.
The second The Dissertation: ‘Finished, it’s finished, nearly finished, it must be nearly finished.’ is scheduled for November 26, 2024 @ 6 PM (London Time Zone) in which Ryan McHale (Florida State U), Candan Kızılgöl Özdemir (TOBB ETÜ) and Rosaleen Maprayil (Reading U) will share their insights on maneuvering through and finishing the dissertation.
Once again, attendance is free of charge and participants should sign up https://forms.office.com/r/UhA7KdE2ft?origin=lprLink. A Zoom link will be sent the day before the workshop.
